The SkyGolf SkyCaddie SGX GPS is considered one of the best new products on the market in golf rangefinders today. There are many features that make this product very attractable. If you have never owned or used a rangefinder, you will be very surprised at what you can do once you do buy one. It’s amazing what these little gadget can do and that is why we recommend getting one. Here is a review of the Skygolf SkyCaddie SGX, one of the best golf gps systems on the market right now.
Skygolf SkyCaddie SGX Review
The first feature that you will notice is the large 3” display. This display is very pleasing to golfers because it comes with the transflective LCD screen which allows you to see the clearest images on the sunniest of days. The other feature that I really like about the SkyCaddie SGX is that the SGX is not a touch screen. Some people might like touch screen displays but I find them to be filled with finger prints. I like to spend more time checking yardages rather than cleaning my display screen.
Have you ever been skeptical of the yardages on your local golf course? Let me tell you, if you own the SkyGolf SGX GPS you will never have to look at the yardage markers on the golf course again. This GPS unit also comes with TruePoint GPS Precision Positioning Technology. This technology links up to satellites remarkable fast saving you time. This technology also increases accuracy over all terrains including areas under dense tree cover; some GPS units struggle to do the same.

- Yardages and Specific Targets – You are able to move the points on the screen to find the best possible club selection.
- Display is very clear with vibrant colors – There are very few golf gps systems with this type of screen clarity.
- Buttons and Functions are easy to find and use – Many users find the usability of the skycaddie sgx superior to other gps systems.
- Positioning system is easy to use – It will take you only seconds to find the yardages of your next shot.
- Statistical Data – after you upload your scores and other information, you can instantly see how you improving. You can also compare your scores to other people around the world using the skycaddie system.
Cons:
- Updating – If you don’t update on a regular basis (when it tells you there’s an update), you will have problems loading maps.
- Syncing – Some people are having trouble syncing the system with their home computers. You won’t have this problem is your computer is less than a year or so old.
- Membership ($19.99 per year) – You will have to pay monthly charges to access the new updates for courses, community information, etc. It’s only 20 buck a year, but still something you have to consider.
- Price (retail starts at $430) – If you are willing to pay this much for a golf gps, you should be able to pay the $20 per year charge. It’s a pricey little gadget, but from what we are hearing it’s shaving anywhere from 4 to 9 strokes off of scores.
All in all, I believe that the SkyGolf SGX GPS is a great tool for your more advanced golfer. This device is not something for the weekend hacker. This tool is for the players that want to make improvements on the golf course. If you’re not serious about your golf game you might want to look at other GPS units because this one is a bit pricey at around $300. I also believe that this GPS unit provides players with a wealth of information and if you are going to use the information, it’s worth every penny.
